Root-cause support for hypothyroidism — alongside your current thyroxine, not instead of it
About Hypothyroidism
Hypothyroidism is an underactive thyroid — insufficient production of thyroid hormones (T3, T4) — causing fatigue, weight gain, cold sensitivity, hair thinning, and slowed metabolism. Hashimoto’s thyroiditis (autoimmune) is the most common cause globally.
Common symptoms we see:
The conventional approach
Conventional treatment is levothyroxine (Thyronorm, Eltroxin) — replacing the hormone the thyroid isn’t producing enough of. This is often lifelong. Levothyroxine manages TSH numbers but does not address the underlying cause (autoimmunity, nutritional deficiencies, gut dysbiosis) — which is why many patients continue to feel unwell despite normalised lab values.
The Ayurvedic view
Ayurveda understands hypothyroidism as a Kapha-dominant disorder with Agni depletion — sluggish metabolism at the tissue level (Dhatu Agni mandya). In autoimmune thyroiditis, disturbed Ama is seen as the root — undigested residue that the immune system mistakenly targets. The thyroid (Galaganda area) sits at a Kapha-Vata junction, making it particularly susceptible.
Our treatment protocol for Hypothyroidism
Our doctors work alongside your endocrinologist — we do not replace thyroxine. Our protocol addresses the root metabolic and autoimmune drivers: restoring Agni, reducing Ama, supporting thyroid function through classical formulations, correcting diet and lifestyle, and where warranted using Panchakarma to clear accumulated toxins. The goal is often not medication-free but symptom-free and at a lower medication dose.
Meet our Ayurvedic doctors. They review your full history, existing reports and medications. A clear treatment plan is given before any commitment.
A Kapha-reducing, Agni-kindling diet — warm cooked meals, reduced raw and cold foods, specific spices (ginger, black pepper, turmeric). Avoid goitrogens in excess (raw cruciferous vegetables). Timing matters — no heavy late-night meals.
Regular movement (brisk walking, yoga), morning sun exposure, stress management (cortisol suppresses thyroid), and 7–8 hours of sleep. Sedentary lifestyle significantly aggravates Kapha.
Not every patient needs Panchakarma. Our doctors recommend it only when your case warrants it.
A patient case
A 38-year-old patient with Hashimoto’s on 100mcg thyroxine for 6 years, persistent fatigue and weight gain despite normal TSH. After a 4-month protocol with Virechana, Kanchanar Guggulu, dietary correction and movement: energy improved substantially, 7kg weight loss, thyroxine reduced to 75mcg under endocrinologist supervision, sustained at 12 months.
Individual cases. Outcomes vary by condition severity, adherence and chronicity.
