Why pain persists

Chronic pain rarely stays still

Beneath the pain, the joint or spine environment slowly changes. Treating only the symptom can quiet the pain for a while — but it lets that change carry on underneath.

Symptoms

Stiffness on waking, pain climbing stairs, a reduced range of movement, and pain that worsens in cold weather or after activity.

Root causes

Wear in the joint or disc, low-grade inflammation, weakened supporting muscles, and how the joint is moved and loaded every day.

If it is left unaddressed

Pain that comes and goes can settle into something constant, movement narrows, and daily life slowly reorganises around the pain.

Conditions Orthiva is built for

Knee Pain

Osteoarthritis, stiffness and pain on the stairs.

Back Pain

Persistent lower-back pain and stiffness.

Sciatica

Radiating leg pain, tingling or numbness.

Slip Disc

A herniated or bulging disc pressing on nerves.

Neck Pain

Cervical stiffness, spondylosis and headaches.

Frozen Shoulder

Painful, restricted shoulder movement.

Osteoarthritis

The gradual "wear-and-tear" arthritis of the joints.

Rheumatoid Arthritis

The autoimmune arthritis that inflames the joints.

Gout

The uric-acid arthritis of sudden, intense attacks.

The difference

Treating the symptom, or finding the cause

Orthiva is not against any other form of care. It simply starts in a different place — with the cause of the pain, not just the pain itself.

Assessment first

Why the assessment comes first

The same knee or back pain can have very different causes. So Orthiva never starts with a treatment — it starts with understanding. A program is recommended only after a physician-led assessment of what is driving your pain.

By the end of your assessment you will understand:

Why your symptoms may be persisting

A clear explanation of what is driving your pain.

What may be contributing to your condition

The factors — physical and lifestyle — behind the problem.

Whether Orthiva is appropriate for you

An honest view of whether this is the right path for your case.

What realistic recovery may look like

A grounded picture of what recovery could involve — no over-promising.

Understand your condition before choosing treatment

The Orthiva Assessment is the starting point — a structured, physician-led evaluation of your joint or spine condition, and whether an Orthiva program is right for you.

You leave with your Orthiva Score.

The programs

Joint & Spine Restoration Programs

If an Orthiva program is right for you, your doctor recommends one of these after your assessment. Each is personalised — the specifics are decided for your case.

Joint Restoration Program

For chronic knee and other joint conditions — osteoarthritis, arthritis and joint stiffness.

Spine Restoration Program

For back and neck conditions — sciatica, slip disc, cervical spondylosis and chronic back pain.

Sports Recovery Program

For sports and overuse injuries — tendon, ligament and soft-tissue conditions.

Programs are recommended after assessment, never chosen from a menu. What a program includes is decided by your doctor, for your condition.

An honest fit

Who Orthiva is for

Orthiva is built for chronic, ongoing joint and spine conditions. It is not the right starting point for everyone — and we would rather say so, and point you toward the right care.

Suitable

  • Chronic knee pain and osteoarthritis
  • Chronic back pain, sciatica and slip disc
  • Neck pain and cervical spondylosis
  • Frozen shoulder
  • Arthritis (osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis)

Not suitable

  • Emergency conditions
  • Acute fractures
  • A condition that requires urgent surgery
  • Serious neurological symptoms

Told you need surgery?

A recommendation for surgery is a fork in the road — not the end of it

Some joints genuinely do need surgery. If yours is one of them, our doctors will tell you so — honestly, and up front. We would rather say so up front.

But for many people, “surgery is the only option left” is said before the joint has ever been fully assessed — each earlier step handled separately, by a different person, with no one reading the whole picture. A structured, physician-led assessment often finds room to work on the joint before that fork is reached.

Understand your joint before you decide.

You leave with your Orthiva Score.

Evidence-informed care

What the research shows

The therapies and formulations used in an Orthiva programme have been studied in peer-reviewed clinical research — including randomized controlled trials — using the same internationally recognized measures modern medicine uses: the WOMAC osteoarthritis index, the Visual Analog Scale (VAS) for pain, and the Oswestry Disability Index (ODI) for back pain.

  • Localised medicated-oil therapy with classical formulations, evaluated for knee osteoarthritis with improvement in pain and disability scores.[3][4]
  • Classical Ayurvedic therapy for the lumbar spine — significant improvement in disability (ODI), range of movement and pain.[5][6]
  • Combined Ayurvedic therapy studied for cervical conditions against conventional comparators.[7]
  • Boswellia serrata (Shallaki) — a core anti-inflammatory in our formulations — evaluated in multiple randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trials for knee osteoarthritis, with significant reductions in pain, stiffness and inflammatory markers (hs-CRP, TNF-α).[8][9][10]
  • For gout, classical Ayurvedic treatment compared directly against standard urate-lowering medication, with improvement in symptoms and serum uric acid.[11]
  • A multimodal Ayurveda regimen for knee osteoarthritis is currently being studied in a registered randomized controlled trial using validated WOMAC and imaging measures.[12]

Our written commitment

The Dr. Era Ayurveda Assurance

Your Day-0 Orthiva Score report carries a printed improvement threshold — the number we hold ourselves to. If your Score has not meaningfully improved by your Day-90 re-measure, and you have kept your side of the plan — attendance and home protocol, visible to you throughout — we repeat your program's treatment stages at no cost. One repeat, in writing, from Day 0.

We don't promise a result. We promise what we'll do if the numbers don't move.

‘Meaningful improvement’ uses the published thresholds of the medical instruments themselves (WOMAC/ODI/NDI/VAS), printed on your own report — never our judgement after the fact.
